Early Engagement Leads to Smooth Delivery
Serving as program manager, IMPACT celebrates the successful completion of Oakhurst Medical Center, now known as MedCura Health, in Decatur, Georgia. This new 12,500 SF medical office building hosts multiple practices, including family medicine, behavioral health, pediatric care, OB/GYN, and dental services.
Working in complete collaboration with project partners Lyman Davidson Dooley (Architect) and Trident Construction Group (Construction Manager), IMPACT acted as a representative for project owner, Oakhurst Medical Centers (now MedCura Health, Inc.).
A textbook example of how to get the most benefit from our breadth of experience, our IMPACT team was engaged early in the development process, allowing us to establish the budget and schedule and guide the Owner through architect and contractor selection. This led to the complete alignment of the project team around the project’s stated goals, including budget and schedule. Remaining flexible and diligent, we overcame the challenges presented by COVID-19, like permitting processes and challenges with obtaining resources through our supply chain. Together, we accomplished incredible results, meeting every stated program goal and finishing nine percent under budget and on schedule despite the challenges of a global pandemic. Other notable accomplishments include achieving 27% MBE participation (ahead of the stated 25% goal) and partnering with the county to provide a more reliable water source to nearby residents.
As best stated by IMPACT Project Director Alex Vess, “This project brings much-needed care to the surrounding community and is a great representation of the benefit of engaging a program manager early in the development process – ahead of the architect and contractor. We are proud of this collaborative effort, our outcomes, and our ability to deliver as promised.”
